How to make a schlenk tube?

What is a Schlenk tube?

'' A Schlenk flask or Schlenck tube is a reaction vessel typically used in air sensitive chemistry, invented by Wilhelm Schlenk´´
Schlenk tube is normally used in gas measurement in sensitive genetics. It permits the transfer of liquids or solids by pouring within a closed apparatus or under an inert-gas flushThere are four types of schlenk tubes Solvent pot, Straus flask, Schlenk bomb, Standard Schlenk flask.

How to make a Schlenk flask:

· Materials:

     Schlenk tube                 Vaseline

   All materials

Procedure:

Part 1:

Part 2:

1) We get all the material we are going to need to make our shlenck tuve; vaseline, the male part and the female part.

2) We spread some vaseline on the male part, in order for it to fit better, so that it doesn't break when the male part is inserted into the female part.

3) We introduce de male part into the female part.

4) To make sure it doesn't fall, we tie it around with an elastic band.

5) After we are sure our male part is well fit into our female part, we get a special red tap.

6) Then we squeeze it inside the top part of our schlenk tube.

7) Finally we tie it around with a elastic band to make sure it won't fall.

  1. Good step-by-step method girls but I think your videos are the wrong way round. You need more information on what the tube can be used for and perhaps show how and why the vaseline was applied.
